Disaster Operations Officer (DOO)
"Rotary clubs are encouraged to expand their unique role in providing rapid response relief to people and communities involved in large scale disasters using the worldwide network of Rotary clubs"
DRRAG is in the process of creating a coordination governance infrastructure for Rotary Disaster Relief. This means that DRRAG needs to be integrated into disaster operations around Club, District and Zone structure.
Benefits of a DOO
The purpose for expanding DRRAGs disaster relief throughout each club is for the purpose of creating a global strength in times of emergency. Rotarians work on an international level in thousands of different sectors which truly creates an enormous impact on the world. If DRRAG can tie into all corners of the globe then we can be better prepared for any disaster. Through our ability to communicate immediately we can efficiently get supplies and relief to emergency locations. Rotary's Disaster Relief teams are often first responders. As DRRAG develops we would like to see this happen more frequently in an effort to relieve disaster victims more efficiently and effectively. As our global bind grows stronger this becomes more possible.
Benefits Of Having a DOO In Your Club or District
Having a DOO in your Club or District allows you to be more prepared for disasters. This allows your Club to engage in relief efforts on a large or small scale. In a region where natural disasters happen frequently a DOO will enable their Club/District to be prepared for any emergency disaster situation. This allows involved Club's to have immediate contact information for relief efforts allowing Rotarian's nearby to be aware of those specific relief needs.
The DRRAG website is a good communication tool. A Club or District in need of Disaster Relief assistance can easily broadcast specific needs. It is just as easy for a Club/District to view those needs when they want to help.
Club Disaster Operations Officer (C-DOO)
DRRAG is asking Club Secretary's to assist their President and Board to designate a Club Disaster Operations Officer (C-DOO) for their club. DRRAG operates on the assumption that each club (regardless of the degree to which the club is involved in disaster relief) will have a C-DOO.
Role and Responsibility of the C-DOO
The C-DOO will be the point person for their club's disaster involvement. In order to manage the club's emergency operations, this person would liaise with other clubs in the District and coordinate it's policies with the District Disaster Relief (DRRAG) Committee. The duties of the C-DOO may be shared amongst a committee or simply one person, depending on disaster involvement.
Please ensure the role of C-DOO is added to your club organization chart and make sure that this person is registered with the DRRAG community. Not only will this designation strengthen Disaster Relief efforts it would allow the Rotary world to truly unite in a time of emergency.
Discussion Pages have been opened for C-DOO's and D-DOO's to communicate back and forth.

How to Assign a C-DOO
A Club Disaster Operations Officer must be appointed by the Club President. Club Secretaries may assist in this procedure as can the board.
The chosen person or persons can Join Now.
District Disaster Operations Officer (D-DOO)
DRRAG is asking all District Governors to become members of DRRAG. This enables each DG to actively be involved and receive all Rotary International DRRAG communications.
Role and Responsibility of the D-DOO
Once a DRRAG member the D-DOO will be asked to ensure that a Club Disaster Operations Officer (C-DOO) has been appointed for each of their clubs. Discussion Pages have been opened for C-DOO's and D-DOO's to communicate back and forth.
